REVEREND CHARLES L. JONES
Reverend Charles Levanne Jones
was born to Charles and Jennie Jones in Roanoke Rapids, North
Carolina. He has three sisters and one brother. Reverend
Jones accepted Christ at a young age, and was baptized by his
grandfather, Pastor William Jones of Shearin Chapel Baptist Church,
Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.
Reverend Jones received
his education in the DC Public Schools and was awarded an Associate in
Arts Degree in Biblical Studies after completing his study at Maple
Springs Baptist College Seminary, Capitol Heights, Maryland.
Reverend Jones career has
spanned over 30 years with the Federal Government. Three of those
years were in the United States Army.
Reverend Jones began his
fellowship at Vermont Avenue Baptist Church (“VABC”) in 1997. On
April 11, 1999, he officially became a member of VABC. Reverend
Jones is active in and is currently a member of the Missionary Society
(Outreach), the Sunday School and the Men’s Day Committee. On
March 28, 2001, he accepted the Lord’s call to proclaim God’s Word. He
rendered his trial sermon on June 12, 2001, at VABC and was ordained to
the Gospel Ministry on December 13, 2008 by the Vermont Avenue Baptist
Church under the pastorate of Reverend Cornelius R. Wheeler.
For the past ten years,
Reverend Jones has led a men’s ministry at the Central Union Mission
(“Mission”) in Washington, DC. He also serves as a part-time
Biblical Counselor and Chaplain at the Mission. He is a member
and participant of the Coalition of Prison Ministries and the Lott
Carey Foreign Youth Organization.
Reverend Jones is the
father to six sons: Derrick, Rodney, Charles (not a Jr.), Jarrod,
Roger and Ronnie. He and his wife, Evangeline R. Jones, currently
reside in Clinton, Maryland with Roger and Ronnie.
Reverend Jones is a child
of God, who believes that everything is in God’s hands. His centering
passage of Scripture is “To preach the acceptable year of the
Lord.” (Luke 4:19) To God be all the Glory.
